Entry 6

In the Allegory of the Cave written by Plato, the author states the prisoners who tied in chains and can’t move anywhere they want in their lives. They only can see the shadow which presents in a blank wall. Therefore, they mistakenly think the shadow is the reality of the nature. The author told me that a way of looking at a thing as far as possible, do not limit in one place.
After I learned this story, it remains me that I used to have the same unenlightened experience. That event happened a few years ago, my parents expect that I can get the best education and have the wonderful life. Thus, they used a lot of money for applied immigration move to the U.S. In their opinion, education of the U.S is the best of the world. However, I disagree about that, and I was upset heard about that news, because I didn’t really want to leave which I know-well country, and then moved to a complete different once. However, I thought education should be the same in the round of world, and each country should educate the same knowledge; there is nothing special in the U.S. Moreover, I thought I can learn English well in my native country and choose any major I want to. At the end, my parents strongly disagree I stay alone and must immigrated with them.
Nowadays, I changed my mind and realized that the reality exist the many difference between what I thought before. The U.S is the great immigrant country, people bring with their own cultures, religions and languages into this country. Thus, I learned a lot and wide my knowledge in many ways. I also can learn various new things which I never hear in my native country. However, I understand well that my thought at that time seems like Socrates’ thought in the cave. Actually, we can’t judge anything by appearance; we have to figure out the reality by deeply understand. The major important thing is I learn a lot from this experience, I realized that I have to find the reality by personal view, not by listening someone else.
